Oblivion Comfy Oblivion

Comfy Oblivion

I'm going to do another guide, this time focused mainly on the things that I personally install to make the game a pleasure to be in. My other guides were general lists of mods but this time I'll try to only list what I use. Keep in mind a lot of the mods have readme's and .ini's you should pay attention to and customize. I won't be recommending any texture mods in this guide since I've already done that in the other guide.

Here's what I had installed before I stopped on the guide.

As for installing the mods, I typically go in the order of UI > OBSE > everything else > textures. Good luck.

Sound:
  • Better Music System - Speaks for itself and this was my last setup for the mod if you want it but some of the songs might be buggy.
  • Elz More Voice - This mod gives your character the ability to vocalize many actions.
  • Elz Original Voice Replacer - Expansion for the above mod.
  • Elz Improved UE - Adds special sounds to some events, really great mod. There's also a kill camera you may want to turn off.
  • Better Bell Sounds - Really enhances the city life.
  • Companion Vilja - Her banter is great.
  • Oblivion XP Update - I install this strictly for the nice sound effects it adds.

Gameplay:
  • Elz Realistic Gravity - It's amazing how much better this mod makes the game.
  • Trifle - Adds a first person shadow but make sure you read the readme so this and Better Music System work together.
  • Enhanced First Person Camera - Does what it says, make sure to configure it.
  • Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul - Very light but comprehensive and compatible overhaul. Has a very fun feign death ability.
  • Spell Deflect - I install this on principle, it's just too cool.
  • A Bloody Mess - I use bloody fights + the main .esm.
  • Get Wet -  I use "just droplets.esp".
  • Put it in its Place - Enhanced Grabbing - The ultimate grabbing overhaul that offers highly advanced AI to NPCs.

User Interface:
  • QZ Easy Menus - Absolutely essential mod, it's scary thinking that people don't use it. Here are my settings for it.
  • Darnified UI and this plugin for it - Fixes the UI.
  • Rotating Compass - Image here.
  • Menu and Camera Toggler - Useful for screenshots.

Landscape:
  • All Natural(has an .ini you can edit) - the definitive weather mod
  • Better Cities and patches for it.
  • Unique Landscapes & its patches for the below mods.
  • Falling Leaves
  • Shezrie's Towns
  • Roads of Cyrodiil - I'm not sure if this conflicts with the new Better Cities plugin's patches yet but it seems to not.
  • Region Revive - Lake Rumare
  • Dragon Captions - Villages
  • ImpeREAL Empire - Unique Forts
These mods add some towns around Cyrodiil and especially the Imperial Isle.

Environment:
  • Oblivion Reloaded - For now I'm going to stick with OBGEv3 but this may supersede it soon enough and is recommended for more casual modders. Here and here are guides covering OBGE if you want to get more technical.
  • All Natural - the definitive weather mod.
  • Immersive Interiors and its patch - allows you to see outside of interior windows.
  • QQuix - Rock rock rock your ship - makes ships bob around which is amazing.
  • Natural Habitat - Use either the .esp or the .esm.
  • Animated Window Lighting System and Chimneys - Make sure to install this after QTP3 if you're using that.
  • Physical Throwable Crates n Chests - Pretty useless mod but it's fun.

OBSE:

  • OBSE - Required for everything.
  • Sound Commands & Enhanced Music and Control - For Better Music System.
  • Conscribe & Pluggy & Conscribe - For DarnUI's config mod among others.
  • MenuQue - For OblivionXP.
  • OBSE Elys Silent Voice - For mods that add NPCs.
  • FastExit - Removes the CTD popup after I quit the game with "qqq" console command.
  • Elys Uncapper - For uncapping stats.
  • Oblivion Stutter Remover and open the ini and do "bReplaceHeap = 1" to remove some stuttering. Turn off manage FPS too or set the limit to 60+ fps instead of 30.
